CommonTerms Used in the Front Office


From the five star hotel that i have worked before this are the common terms used in the FIDELIO System at the front desk.

 

Total Rooms    - This is the total number of rooms the hotel has.

Out of Order Rooms- This is the total number of rooms the hotel presently have that is out of order or unsellable.

 

Rentable Room- These are the number of rooms the hotel has to sell.

Out of Service- These are rooms that are included in the availability but have been removed from the vacant room screen preventing them from being allocated.

 

Available Tonight- This is the number of rooms the hotel has available to sell for the night.

Occupied Tonight- This shows the predicted number of room, the number of people and the number of VIPS that will be in the hotel this evening.

Occupancy Percentage- This shows the predicted occupancy percentage for this evening excluding the rooms that have been placed out of ord

Blocks not picked up- This shows the number of rooms on Group Blocks that have not had names entered against them.

Average Rate- this shows the expected average rate for tonight.

Individual Rooms- This shows the predicted number of rooms  in-house tonight booked for individual reservations.

Group Rooms- This shows the predicted the number of Rooms in-house tonight booked for Group reservations. It also shows the number of guests and how many of them are VIP.

House Use- This shows the number of predicted rooms on House use booked for tonight. This total is taken from the number of bookings that have HU in the market segment.

 

Complementary Rooms= this shows the number of predicted rooms on complimentary booked for tonight. This total is taken from the number of bookings that have a “Y” in the complimentary Field in the Option Screen.

 

Departures Expected- This shows the number of rooms still expected to depart today excluding Day Use rooms.

 

Departures Actual- This shows the number of rooms that have actually departed including Day Use Rooms.

 

Arrivals Expected- This shows the number of rooms still expected to arrive  tonight excluding Day Use Reservations.

 

Arrival Actual- This shows the number of rooms that have actually checked in today.

Front Office Introduction

The front office is the “nerve center ” in the hotel. It comprise of the Reception, Guest Service, Bell Service,BusinessCenterand Executive Club. The purpose of the front office department is to provide assistance in guest arrival and departure, transportation ,information concerning the hotel and the city and any other service arrangements needed during their stay.

 

the front office functions can be divided into five general areas:

1. reception (Front Desk)
2. bell service
3. mail and information (Business Center)
4. concierge
5. cashiers and night auditors
